Dog Friendly Beaches & Parks in Port Fairy

Whether an inter-state traveler or a South West Victorian local, there are some very good reasons to get out and explore our region with your dog.

Little East Beach

Known as Port Fairy’s safest dog-friendly beach with white sand and little to no surf, Little East Beach is great for swimming and water wading for the whole family. Parking is easy, crowds manageable, with shallow waters, soft sand, and almost no surf, this is a pooch paradise.

The beach is at the end of Griffiths St, adjacent to Battery Hill. If you walk down the boat ramp to access the beach, and turn right you will have all the beach to the south.

East Beach – The Mahogany Walk

Like most of Port Fairy’s coastline, the Mahogany walk from Connolly st in Port Fairy to Warrnambool is mind-blowingly beautiful. And this one is perfect for a shaggy surfer dog. Why? Because this section of East Beach is also one of the best surfing locations around Port Fairy. And with all the dog owners that love this beach, you might make a friend too!

Head up Connolly st, walk down the stairs to the beach and turn left. From here you and your best friend can walk all the way to Warrnambool.

Parks & Reserves

Russell Clarke Reserve and George Dodd’s Reserve are ideal if you are a walker/jogger and you like your dog to benefit from your work out too. Dogs have to be on a leash.

There are lots of dog bags available around Port Fairy, and there should be plenty of other dogs for your pup to play with.
